Potters Gorge

Wellington Dam Road, Worsley WA 6225

Potters Gorge is situated in the magnificent Wellington National Park, on the shores of Wellington Dam.

It has 60 shady campsites and will accommodate large vehicles, caravans, tents and camper trailers. Bookings must be made prior to arrival via Explore Parks. Campsites are in high demand, so to avoid disappointment, book before travelling to the park.

Along with the individual campsites, the new campgrounds have a large group area and day area, camp kitchen and a drop point. Picnic tables and wood barbecues are provided, while the adjacent day-use picnic area has gas barbecues, toilets and change rooms. Non-potable water is provided.

Campfires are allowed between the hours of 6pm and 10am in the cooler months and are to be contained in the designated fire pits only – not on the open ground. To check when there is a fire ban please visit DFES website.

The beach entry into the water makes it a popular spot for those with small children as the water is shallow on entry and is a bit warmer than the river.

Fishing, canoeing, swimming, bushwalking and the nearby mountain bike trails are popular local activities. New walk paths provide easy access around the site with mobility impaired visitors being catered for also to a number of the sites and facilities.

A feature of the site is the mountain bike pump track which offers another activity for families,

The new 20 kilometre Wiilman Bilya Trail stretches from Wellington Dam north to the Coalfields Highway, winding through magnificent blackbutt, open jarrah forest and past granite outcrops. Bushwalkers can expect a full day walk in either direction, with the option to camp overnight at Nyingarn campsite or at Potters Gorge.

Adjacent access to the Sika Trail offers a convenient way to go mountain biking or walking also linking many of the trails in the Park, as well as to the Kiosk which offers refreshments and food.
Water skiing
Water skiing is permitted on a small section of Wellington Dam, at Potters Gorge. The water ski area is for deep water take off only. Take-off and landing of skiers from shore are prohibited. Skiing is permitted between sunrise and sunset. A five-knot speed restriction applies at all other times. All waters of Wellington Dam extending to 200m east of the dam wall are closed to all vessels at all times. Freestyle driving of personal watercraft (also known as jet skis) is prohibited on all waters of Wellington Dam.
