Walking & Hiking

Take in Geographe’s natural beauty in the best possible way; on foot. Qantas Magazine claims the hottest holiday activities in Australia right now is – walking. Yes…it’s time to throw your walking boots in your bag. Whether you’re after a gentle stroll or a strenuous hike, this region provides many options.

WALK TRAILS

The ancient rolling hills, beautiful valleys, endless coastline and towering jarrah and tuarts of BunGeo are unlike any other place on earth. With an abundance of State Forests and National Parks, the region offers breathtaking hiking and bush walking for all fitness levels and experience.

Check out the list below or speak a knowledge Visitor Centre consultant to identify which track is best for you.

BIBBULMUN TRACK

Keen to get off the grid? The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long distance walk trails which traverses some of BunGeo’s most beautiful back-country.

It’s very much a DIY holiday. Use of the trail is free with shelter huts along the way. They’re equipped with composting toilets, but you need to carry your food and sleeping bag. Bring a Sat phone too, as sadly internet connections are patchy at best. Alternatively, we recommend staying at one of the B&B, motel and chalet accommodation options located just off the track!

During summer, take the Collie to Balingup section that passes past Glen Mervyn Dam. It’s a great place to cool off or just watch the sunlight reflect off the ripples.
